Learn To Speak Italian
Hello, my name is Flavia Hawes, born in Italy 1963 where I lived in Milan until 1994.
Moving to Lowestoft in January 1994 where I now live with my husband and two sons. Before moving to England I attended an English language school in Milan called the British Council. All tutors were native English; this I feel is an essential ingredient to learning another language correctly.
I have done a variety of jobs in-between having my children; In 2001 I was very lucky to be given an opportunity to teach Italian to adult students, taking an evening class at the Briar school of English in Lowestoft. This was a huge success and immensely popular until unfortunately the school had to close. Using this as inspiration I took a teaching position at Great Yarmouth College, again teaching Italian to adults three evenings a week, having students return year after year. I enjoyed this greatly teaching for six years gaining a city and guilds qualification in teaching along the way, until government red tape forced me to leave. The idea to “go it alone” came from the students, encouraging me to set up my own Italian school, as testament to my teaching skills all the students left the college to continue their studies under my tuition. I now run three classes from local community centres and teach many students on a private basis, currently I have thirty seven students enjoying their Italian tuition. As the “FlaviaItalia school of Italian” has only been running since September 2010 this is something that makes me feel very proud. Lessons will not follow a government set curriculum with success being measured in college funding but will follow the student’s requirements. If it’s just a meal and a bottle of wine you want to be able to order on holiday, or a business interest where a more comprehensive vocabulary is needed, I can help.
From the comfort of your own home or in one of my classes I can guarantee you will enjoy the learning experience.
